Strong pitching by Ashley Lu- cas and Kory Prosser held the CYC tojustone run. Nicole Jones and Joey Hill - were the game stars for the Youth Council. Swain's Seed Sluggers b Mike Baker Auto 3 Hitting and pitching high- lighted this low-scoring game. Swain's built an early three-run lead on Shawn McNamara's three-run homer in the first in- ning. After that, pitching took over with Mitch Truax of Mike Baker striking out nine batters during his time on the mound. Other game stars were Tay- lor Churchill for Auto and T. J. Parker for Swain's. 'J.C.Flooring 12 Lishman's 2 Jamie Newman and Mark Carnaghan led the Floorer's to their first victory. Mike Sonne pitched well as well as getting three walks as a hitter. Tim Jensen scored twice, as well as pitching the final in- ning, to preserve the victory. Tim Borody pitched a solid two innings, striking out the side in the second inning. Under 17 girls SOCCEer The under 17 girls soccer team opened their season on Tuesday, May 31 at the soccer fields. The team this year is sponsored by Winchester Arms. The girls hosted Pickering Zippy Printing in a well played game which saw the Winches- ter girls take a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by Sara Co- sway. Late in the first half Lisa Bonser scored to make the score 2-0 for Port. The second half was fast paced and saw the girls score two more goals to go on to take the win by 4-0.
