Squirts down Aurora On May 31, Port Perry's Le- gion Squirt All-Star team trav- elled to Aurora and captured a 12-9 win. Tim Jones got his first pitching start of the season and got the win while allowing five hits, nine walks, and recording five strikeouts. Mike Wiseman made a good tag on a batter run- ning to first and held a runner at third. Chris Monsma made a nice grab on a ball at second base. Sean Jeffrey alertly three from centre field to Aaron Ly- cett at second base for a forceout while Tim and Matt Skerratt combined for a good tagout at home after a passed ball. Offensive support came from Matt Skerratt, two hits; Chris Monsma, one hit; Aaron Lycett, one hit; Sean Jeffrey, two hits; Tim, a double; Braden Tarbot- ton, one hit; and Matt Breen, one hit. On June 2, the team hosted Stouffville and the umpire showed up! This was a near- miss for the "golden boys" as they led 5-4 going into the last: inning after surging back from an early 3-1 deficit. Unfortu- nately, Stouffville grabbed some last inning runs for our 7- 5loss. Sean Jeffrey led the Legion attack with three hits while Mark Richardson chipped in with one, Aaron had one, Bra- den had one and Mike Koury had one. } Mark absorbed the loss de- spite 10 strikeouts while allow- ing seven hits and 11 walks. Aa- ron made a heads-up play in snagging a line drive at short and tagging a runner for a dou- ble play. Mark and Sean made a tagout at home. With a little more batting and fewer oppos- ing base runners, we can beat those Stouffville boys next time! Next home game for the Port squad will be June 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Water St. south dia- mond. See you there! i this year with a gift he can use!
