Amy Wigmore also placed fourth on the beam and Alicia placed third on the vault. Special mention to Tanya Beach who placed seventh on the beam in her first ever com- petition. oelle Ewing despite an inju- ry exhibited gutsy performanc- es on the floor and vault in the Advanced Compulsory Level. At the Optional One Level where the girls make up their own routines and use music, Lindsay Green placed first on the floor, Yvonne Prentice placed second on the vault and fourth on the floor and Cheryl Thompson placed fifth on the floor. Christine Bryant placed fourth on the vault, sixth on the beam and seventh on the floor. In the Optional Two level Laura Hooker really wowed the audience with her aerial cart- wheel and double back hand- springs to place first on the floor, first on the vault and sec- ond on the beam. Nine of the above girls then attended the Durham Region Meet on May 10 and really showed that they deserved to be there. There were 20 competi- tors in each level and Alicia Le- roy won a silver medal for her wonderfully polished floor rou- tine. Jessica Foster placed sixth doing a beautiful horizontal squat vault and Yvonne Pren- tice placed fifth doing a superb layout straddle vault. Even though Chelsea Wilson, Jessica Foster, Trisha Martin and Lind- say Green did not place in the top six of their category they were number one on our score- cards. Laura Hooker placed seventh on the floor and seventh on the vault and did a wonderful back walkover on the beam and de- serves a lot of credit for being the only competitor of 23 to com- pete in all three disciplines. ay to go Laura! ~ Greg Manns attended the Durham Boys Final on May 12 and made a gallant effort against very tough opponents in the Advanced Compulsory Lev- el. Greg was the only boy on the team this year and deserves a round of applause for attending each and every practice. The coaches Judie Cooper, Ei- leen Plumpton, Lisa Notting- ham-Blonge and Marg Jamie- son want to thank the parents for their support this year and the staff at S.A. Cawker for put- ting up with all our practices. We congratulate the girls and Greg for their poise and deter- mination in representing our school with such great sporting spirit. We are losing many of our gymnasts to high school next year and are looking for- ward to rebuilding our team with many new members. See you in September!!!
