The Golden Slippers will be playing at the Breadalbane Church in Utica on Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m. They will be at Cullen Gardens on Sunday, June 12 performing at 2 and 3 p.m. Please mark your calen- dars so you don't miss out on these opportunities to hear this popular group. Scugog Shores Museum & Village The Museum's new Curator, Dan Robert of Peterborough, will start this Thursday. Dan was the Assistant at the London Museum of Archeology. Also this week, the Museum will be hiring an Assistant. The Museum has applied for four students under the S.E.E.D. Grant and two stu- dents under the J.O.Y. Grant. Another grant has been applied for under Section 25 for four adults. The Museum will be ad- vertising to fill these positions, upon approval. The Museum anticipates one of their busiest summers ever, since they are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Mu- seum and there will be a num- ber of celebrations throughout the summer. EMERGENCY SERVICE NEVER AN iit The Museum's grounds were a busy place on Monday, May 23 with their Yard Sale. Thanks to all who donated articles to the sale. Also thanks to the volun- teers and to the many shoppers who supported them. The Mu- seum generated almost $800. Watch for details of future events in this column. Scugog Island United Church A meaningful Pentecost ser- vice was conducted by our min- ister, Elaine Barber. The chil- dren were delighted with the balloons our minister used to il- lustrate the fruits of the Holy Spirit. The red and white bal- loons had the words peace, joy, hope, love, patience and kind- ness printed on them. It was also the birthday of the Chris- tian Church. So this week cele- brate the gift of the Holy Spirit! The Men's Chorus will have their first practice on Tuesday, May 24 at 7 p.m. in preparation for the Father's Day service. All men are welcome to join this chorus. Choir practice will be held on Thursday, May 26 at 7 p.m. The Grace U.C.W. will be con- ducting the service on Sunday, May 29 at 9:45 a.m. This will be ajoint service. A special service called "We Thank God For Rainbows" is planned for Sunday, June 6 at 9:45 a.m. to celebrate the end of the Sunday School and Youth year 1993-94. The Youth Group and Sunday School children will be participating in the ser- vice. The Sunday & chool chil- dren will be receiving their awards so please plan to attend this special celebration. The picnic shelter is well un- derway. We are proud of our workmen! Another date to remember is Sunday, June 12. There will be a special outdoor service and dedication of our new picnic shelter at 9:45 a.m. Lunch will be provided. Bring your lawn chairs. Games are planned for the children. The Head U.C.W. will meet on Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. on June 1, at the home of Mrs. Lucille Gray, on Scugog Line 3, 1/4 mile west of Highway 12. Mark your calendars for a Strawberry Supper on Sunday, July 3 at the Scugog Island Hall. Settings are 5 and 6:15 p.m. Contact Bonnie at 985- 7416 to reserve your ticket.
