Chief Gary Edgar, of the Mis- sissaugas of Scugog Island Kirst Nation, Port Perry, Ontario has resided in the Durham Commu- nity for a number of years. In addition to being chief, he holds the position of Economic Devel- opment Officer for the Missis- saugas of Scugog Island First Nation. Chief Edgar has been a driving force in the develop- ment of "Native Perspectives," - - a community business located in Port Perry featuring aborigi- nal art, crafts and clothing. He acts as chairperson for the Scu- gog First Nation Community Facility Committee and is in- volved in the exploration of joint ventures with non-native groups for the development of new projects which emphasizes job creation. Several thefts in Scugog Durham Regional Police re- ported several thefts in Scugog Township over the past week. A 1993 Polaris snowmobile was stolen from a Prince Albert residence between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. on April 7. According to po- lice the snowmobile was on a trailer in a driveway. The theives pushed the trailer across the street, removed the GUARANTEED INVESTMENT CERTIFICATES snowmobile and left the trailer behind. On April 5, a cellular phone was stolen from a car on Old Simcoe Road. It was reported at 11:50 a.m. A wallet was also sto- len from a vehicle on Old Simcoe Road.
