Dr. Michael has had a long and distinguished career with the Region. In announcing his decision to Council, he ex- pressed his deep appreciation for the support and encourage- ment he had received from suc- cessive Councils over his almost quarter century of service with the Region, but expressed his desire to step down from the many demands of the function. Dr. Michael also pointed out that the Region would need to consider his replacement in the near future in any event.
