The sun has disappeared behind gray clouds and the day looks bleak! With a little over a week left in March, let us think spring! Sympathy Many were indeed saddened to learn of the passing of a be- loved friend, Helen McKean, of Greenbank. Helen, with her ready smile, always had a keen interest in Church and commu- nity affairs, having served well in Greenbank UCW, Green- bank Women's Institute, writ- ing news for the Port Perry Star, and an ardent worker for the Port Perry Fair. She was a fine friend to all who came her way. We are grateful for her friend- ship, her many services to oth- ers, and she was a general fa- vorite..she could always see the funny side of life..a person loved and highly respected by all who knew her. "Our deepest sympathy is ex- tended to her loving husband Don and her many relatives and friends left to mourng We shall cherish her memory! Hope the young fry enjoyed the March Break and had a great time before going back to the grind. Cancer Drive Canvassing for the Cancer Drive will take the month of April, which has been set aside as Cancer Month! Give as gen- erously as you can when the canvasser calls. Nestleton United Church A large attendance on Sun- day, March 20, Lent V, with Neta Fish and Mabel Cawker the greeters at the door. Rev. David Shearman brought a fine message, taking as his text for this Lenten journey Jeremiah 31:31-34 read by Claire McKen- zie. The choir trio Katie Mairs, Regenia Walker and Shirley Jackson sang nicely "Whisper- ing Hope" with Carol Mairs at the piano. The children's theme was most interesting as well as the appropriate message for the congregation, with excellent thoughts to take home. Lovely hymns were sung - closing with "Lead Us, Heaven- ly Father, Lead Us", Benedic- tion and Threefold Amen. Of- fering received by Richard and Janice MacKenzie. A friend will look for good- ness, in everything we do, A friend is one who knows our faults, yet finds our virtues too. A friend will share a crust of bread, or help to lift a load. Happy are we who find a few good friends along the road. It takes a year to make a friend. but vou ean lage ane in an hour!
