Grant councillor leave of absence Scugog council has author- ized a leave of absence for one of its members. Council passed a resolution on Monday granting permission for Ward 1 Councillor Ken Car- ruthers to be absent from meet- ing for the months of March, April and May. Councillor Carruthers is cur- rently undergoing treatment for cancer and related illness. The Ward 1 councillor has been absent from council for two months and his seat would have become vacant had this resolu- tion not been approved. Clarification An article in last week's edi- tion of the Port Perry Star con- tained some incorrect informa- tion. According to a spokesperson for the Durham Medical Socie- ty, the Oshawa Clinic was clos- ing its doors during the March break. But Harry Horricks, a spoke- man for the clinic, said this is not the case and "it is business asusual."
