"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, March 1,1994 - 9 Busy summer planned for museum's 25th anniversary The Lake Scugog Historical Society plans to mark the local museum's 25th anniversary with a number of events throughout the summer. According to Art Richardson, Museum Board Chairman, ap- proximately 18 events have been planned for Scugog Shores Museum Village. The events get underway in May when the Port Perry Crui- sin" Car Classics Club bring their vehicles to show on the museum grounds on May 15. A week later, the historical society is planning its annual yardsale on May 23. The activities continue 1n June with the 26th annual run- ning of Canoe the Nonquon on June 4 and the Nonquon Trath- lonondJuneb. The Crusin' Classics return to the museum on June 12 for an- othershow. June 18 and 19 marks Pio- neer Days, enabling you to cele- brate life of a hundred years ago with exhibits and demonstra- tions of pioneerlife. July marks the busiest month at the museum with a number of new attractions. Paul Arculus, president of the Historical Society, said July will be used as the focus of the museum's celebrations. Music in the Village on July 2 and 3 will feature numerous musical performers including soloists and groups, singers and instrumentalists. The Crusin' Classics will make another appearance on July 17. July 23 and 24 will see a re- turn to the steam days when the museum plays host to Steam and Railway Days. This event will feature displays and dem- onstrations of steam machines, model railways and railway me- morabilia. A herb festival on July 30 and 31 will close out the month. This event will feature demonstra- tions, lectures and exhibits, items and products for show and sale. The 2nd annual Port Perry Crusin' Classics Car show re- turns on August 21. Last year this show attracted more tnan 200 exhibitors from across the province. Harvest Days on September 17 and 18 closes out the planned events forthe year. Although many of the planned activities have been featured at the museum for a number of years, the music tes- tival, steam show agd herb fes- tival are new attractions. Mr. Arculus hopes the inclu- sion of these new events has a positive effect on the village. "With the three events, we're hoping to start a tradition of ma- jor events," he said. "We're hop- ing to reach out to more people with divergentevents."
