The township's Economic De- velopment Committee has drafted the "Community Devel- opment Survey" delivered to 7,000 Scugog homes this week. The survey results will form the basis for both a short and long-term strategy for the town- ship's economic development. "The results will provide a broad brush approach to eco- nomic development," he said. The five-page, 19-question survey touches on all issues con- cerning the community includ- ing demographics, shopping habits, housing needs, recrea- tional needs and ideas on eco- nomic development. "The people in the community - have needs and we want to ad-. dress these by going in the rig direction," Councillor Gad said. the main initiatives of the nomic Development Comittee formed last year. The committee, consi sting of councillors IMvid Dietfein, Ken Carruthers and Ken! Gadsden, along with secretary . Diane Knutson, met with the various business leaders"in the town- ship to determine the needs of the community and the direc- tion it should take. With the use of a professional - ly prepared survey from a simi- lar community, the committee tailor-made the questions to suit Scugog's needs. As a result the cost of the sur- vey was minimal. But Council- lor Gadsden believes the bene- fits of the survey will far outweight any costs. "These will be easily recouped by producing a co-ordinated de- velopment plan for the commu- nity," he said. The deadline for returning the survey is March 4. The committee will then com- pilethe results and prepare are- port by yearend. The questionnaire is on of { Ocha chk! iy hey oo or hpi § a the blanket to lay on during the cold "J.
