The happy couple were married in liford Essex, England in 1924 and came to Canada in 1957. After living in a number of communties, they settled in Port Perry about four years ago. The couple were presented a plaque by Scugog Mayor Howard Hall, as well as letters of recognition from Premier Bob Rae, MP Alex Shepherd and MPP Gord Mills. The young Port Perry woman, who was seriously injured in a car accident near Winnipeg last September, was in a coma for about two months. It was only after being trans- ferred to Community Memorial Hospital in Port Perry Ms. Lally opened her eyes and began com- ing out of her coma. Following this event, she was taken to Oshawa General Hospital to assess her improve- ment, and since then she has improved steadily. Mayor Howard Hall told The Port Perry Star "the kids were very well behaved" during the concert which featured the pop- ular local band Modern Day Braves. Mayor Hall said this is the first teenage function allowed in a community owned hall in about two years, and was impressed with their behavior. "Maybe now we can take anoth- er look at allowing teenage dances," he said. The benefit was chaperoned by a number of parents as well as four auxiliary police officers who donated their time.
