He had gone over to visit family and to participate in the Ross Carnival "parade. According to the local English newspaper, Mr. Wilson had "been in the very first Ross Car- nival parade 70 years ago. This he got to ride with the judges as the guest of honor, Mr. Wilson was born on Dec. 26, 1913 in Tupsley, England. He came to Canada in 1929 at the age of 16 eventually settling . in the Port Perry area. During WW II he served with the R.C.A.F. and after serving his adopted country, he farmed and worked at General Motors. Some of his hobbies were golf- ing and gardening. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife Josephine (nee Labano- vich) whom he married on Nov. 20, 1937, his sons David and wife Carol, Jim and wife Lucy, wnd his daughter Joan and hus- SE SRE a Bs RARE EH Ch Renae 82 3 gy a = a 5 Eo DR Bean iL FS Rd sheemehly 2 mh Erleen Mary Farmer "band Jim Wilkin, five grand- children, five t grandchil- dren, his brothers Eooft and David, his sisters Ethel, Marjo- rie, Monica and Gladys. He was redeceased by his grandson enny Wilkin, his father who was Killed in World War I, his mother in 1962, four brothers andone sister. | A funeral service, officiated by Padre Alfred Woolcock, was held 'in - the - McDermott- Panabakei' Chapel of the Wagg Funeral Home in Port Perry on 'Friday, Aug. 26, followed by cre- mation. Mr. Wilson's cremated remains were buried in' Pine Grove Cemetery in Prince Al- bert. Pallbearers were James, Ste- ven and Alan Wilson, Neil G., Stephen and Neil Taylor. Hono- rary pallbearers were Mary Lynne Layng and Joanne Wil- son. The Royal Canadian Legion held a service on Thursday eve- ning, Aug. 25, in the funeral home. : Erleen May Farmer (Hewitt) passed away on Saturday, Oct. 23, 1993, after a lengthy illness. Erleen was born March 5, 1913 in Toronto to Frank and Nellie Hewitt, the oldest of three boys and two girls. She was married in Toronto to Gordon 'McGowan for 16 years, having three children. After that she was on her own and went back to work for many years. In 1957, Erleen then married her childhood sweet- heart, Archie Farmer of Port Perry, whom she had first met while working at her aunt and uncle's restaurant as a teenag- .er. Archie had a family of six ," children which now made for a family of nine. Erleen and Ar- chie remained in Port Perry un- til the children grew up and the Port Perry Star was sold. In that time, Erleen worked for J.J.Gibson and as a cook for the old hospital which now is the Villa. After that they moved to Mississauga where they en- joyed travelling, being active members of the legions and ba- bysitting until Archie's retire- ment. They then moved to Oshawa to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Life was great with Archie for all 32 years, with the exception of the loss of two sons.On Nov. 1, 1989, her life crumbled as Ar- chie passed away. The Farmer children then moved Erleen to Port Perry to look after her as her health declined steadily. She was in and out of hospital until her passing on Oct. 23, 1993, at the Community Nurs- ing Home in Port Perry. A funeral service was held in the McDermott-Panabaker Chapel of the Wagg Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 26, fol- lowed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery in Prince Albert. A special thanks to the Wagg Funeral Home, Rev. Charles Bull, honorary pallbearer Clive Boyd and the pallbearers, also to the Community Memorial Hospital, the Villa and Nursing Home. A special thanks to OES Chapter 238 for the many flow- ers and donations. An extra spe- cial thanks to Barbara Farmer and Patricia Fulford for their loving care. Vincent "Mike" England Vincent Mark Ernest "Mike" England passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday, Octo- ber 22, 1993 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Port Perry at age 76. Mike was the son of Clarice Amelia (nee Decareful) and Mark Ernest England. He was born in Uxbridge on June 13, 1917. On" December 15, 1942 Mike married Irva Nott. They lived for many years in Toronto where Mike was employed as a Sanitation Engineer by the city. When Mike retired he and Irva moved to Port Perry. In his spare time, he enjoyed wood working and gardening and he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Port Perry. Mike was a WW II Vete- ran. Mr. england is survived by his wife Irva, his sisters Mae Noble and Kaye Whyte, his sis- ters-in-law Velma and Laurie England, Josie Bradley and. brother-in-law Phil Gendron. He was predeceased by his par- ents Clarice Amelia and rk Ernest England, his brothers George and Louis and his sister ary. A Funeral Mass was held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Port Perry on Monday, October 256 with Fa- ther Charlie Faleiro officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Ceme- tery, Prince Albert. Pallbearers were: Bruce McQuarrie, Douglas Bradley, John Everett, Vincent Walker, Edwin Prentice and Carl Eng- land.
