Next Sunday, there will be a baptismal service at the regular time 0f 9:30 a.m. The UCW is asking for dona- tions for the bazaar to be held on Nov. 3 during the turkey din- ner. Burton when Presbytery will formally install him as our ordained minister. The choirs have prepared special music and a guest preacher will speak. Bible study will be at 10 a.m. The Sunday School will not have a lesson this Sunday, in- stead Marlene McKay will be heading up a craft morning for the children starting at 11 a.m. Plan to attend the euchre in Utica Hall this Friday starting at 8 p.m. It would be really nice to see some of our own commu- nity come out and take part. Everyone is welcome. The Sobils had a full house on Thanksgiving when they enter- tained Eric's family, his parents from Courtice, his brother, and his sister and family of Toronto on Sunday, and on Monday, Jane's brother Tim Urech and family of Barrie were guests. Happy 9th birthday to Josh- ua Sobil whose big day was on Oct. 9. He celebrated with some of his friends on the Friday. : Hillis and Carol Wilbur were in Toronto on Tuesday evening at the North York Performing Arts Centre to see Show Boat. This weekend they enjoyed the Anne Murray show at the O'Keefe Centre. Recent visitors with Mrs. Crosier were Eric and Kevin Carre of Whitby, Jean and Wal- ly Scott of London and Dale and Karen Beare and boys of Water- down. Visitors with the Traceys were Jane's friends, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Hollows from New Zealand, and Dave's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Puckrin. Lisa and Laura McClure will participate in the National Sunburst Competition in Toronto next summer after winning the regional level of the beauty pageant last week. See story for details. (Photos by Brenda Maybee of Petography.) Sisters take top spots in Sunburst beauty pageant By Julia Dempsey Port Perry Star The McClure sisters continue to shine in modelling pageants. Lisa, 11, and her sister Laura, 9, compet- ed in the preliminary Sunburst beauty pa- geant on Thursday, Oct. 14 at the Whitby Mall, and both young ladies qualified for the nationals. Lisa, who competed in the Pre-teen cate- gory (11- to 13-year-olds), won photogenic queen and beauty queen. She was competing against two other contestants. Her younger sister Laura also won photo- genic queen and was first runner-up in the beauty queen competition. Laura was compet- ing in the Little Miss category (seven- to 10- year-olds) against eight other contestants. Both of the McClure. girls wore dresses from the Children's Den during the beauty competition and their photo entries were shot by Brenda Maybee of Petography. Their placings in the preliminary round qualify Lisa and Laura for the National Sun- burst Pageant which will be held in Toronto in July, 1994. The girls have participated in the Sun- burst competition for many years. Lisa start- ed modelling when she was almost five-years- old, while Laura was introduced to the pa- geant when she was three.
