Peewee MoJacks back on track with 26-5 win On Tuesday, June 1 the Port Perry JoMack Peewee rep team played host to Vaughan and got back on the winning track again with a convincing 26-6 win. Things didn't start out well for the MoJacks as starting pitcher Jon Froats walked three of the first four Vaughan batters he faced but managed to escape the inning giving up only three runs thanks to a well turned double play by the MoJack de- fence. Down by a 3-0 count the MoJacks bunched together some hard hit balls and closed out the first inning with a 4-3 lead. The second inning was a bet- ter one for the home team as they shut down the Vaughan of- fence and when the Mo.Jacks came to bat in the bottom of the inning they exploded for nine runs to take a 13-4. lead. Vaughan was never in the game again as the MoJacks de- fence only gave up one more run thanks to some good pitching by Jon Froats who went the dis- tance striking out three and some good plays like Brad Mon- sma's running catch on a sink- ing line drive and Doug Short tagging one runner out at home plate and throwing a runner out at second. Meanwhile the ModJacks of- fence was firing on all cylinders as they just kept pounding out hit after hit to pick up another 13 runs to close this game out with a 26-5 win. [Leading the hit parade for the MoJacks was 'Big' Nick Skerratt who just missed hitting for the cycle as he hit a single, two doubles and a home run. Also getting in on the hitting were: Brad Monsma with two singles, Jon Froats with a walk single and triple, Marc Versage with a walk, triple and homer, Ryan Wil- liamson three singles, Doug Short two singles, Jason Best with a single and triple, Scott Jeffery with a walk, two singles and a triple, Ryan Moynes with a walk and a single, Owen St. John with a single and Aaron Levy showed a good eye picking up a walk. The Modacks next home game is June 8 against Mark- ham on the south diamond at the lake with a 6:30 p.m. start time. Come on down and cheer these young men on as they play some good ball and deserve your support. 11 Swim Club members win medals at Youth National Championships By Kelly Lown Port Perry Star The Uxbridge Swim Club placed sixth in the nation after a fine showing at the Kinsmen/ Kinette Cup Canadian Youth Nationals held May 27-30 in Etobicoke.
