PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 8, 1993 - 29 Wedding Anniversary Celebration Hosted by their family, Bes- sie and Stafford Cosway of Brooklin, celebrated their gold- en wedding anniversary in style on Saturday, June 5, 2-4 p.m., with almost 200 relatives and friends present to wish them the best. ' Elder son Frank was maste of ceremonies and spoke of the many gifts received from gov- ernment officials; and family members read the inscriptions to the crowd of well wishers. He also thanked everyone for at- tending. Warm applause greet- ed them at the close. Their three daughters-in-law planned the event, the decorat- ing and preparing the delicious foods. A gala occasion! Family members comprise son Frank and Nancy Cosway of Manitoba (family unable to attend), Ron and Sandra Cosway, Sarah, Emily, David and Mark of Port Perry, and John and Maureen Cosway, Bryan and Jenna of Oshawa. A beautiful setting with good friends, delightful food, a truly unique anniversary party for Bessie and Stafford. Long live the Cosways! Family Concerns Those visiting at the Cawker farmstead during the week were Sylvia Cawker and family CHandre and Jason of Scarbo- rough. A lovely salad super was enjoyed and a visit was a high- light before returning home- ward. Caesarea News Ball Game Big news of the week is this coming Saturday baseball game between Durham Police Assoc. and Scugog Firefighters Assoc., Nestleton Park at 7:15 p.m. $2 per person, $5 per family. Pro- ceeds to help the Regatta fund. Let us join your friends and neighbors for an enjoyable eve- ning. Pine Ridge Garden Club The great concensus from Tuesday night's meeting is that most things are living in the garden but nothing is growing due to lack of heat. A bus trip is planned to St. Jacob's Farmer's Market and Flea Market on Aug. 19. The cost is $20. Recommend take a lunch in a bag and we will stop for supper. Bus leaves Nestle- ton at 8:45 a.m., Port Perry at 9 a.m. Tickets available from Liz- ylou's, 239 Queen St., Port Perry, after July 19 and must be purchased no later than Aug. 9. It is with regret that we have heard that Len Prout had a very bad fall in his garden and broke his ankle very badly, which required steel plates, etc, and a stay of four days in the hospital. It seems it was only yesterday that Doris broke her hip. Hope to see you up and around before long, Len. Nestleton United Church A fair congregation at the Nestleton United Church on Sunday, June 6, at 11:15 a.m. with friendly greeters, Art and Barb Weir at the door. Student Ron Brittain was welcomed back to the pulpit. He spoke at Nestleton Church last year and has now completed his second year at the M.Div. Program at Queen's Theological School. Good to hear Ron speak again. His scripture was based on Genesis I and Matthew 28. He used as his sermon topic "God is Involved with our Lives". A neat little story was told to the children. The trio sang a num- ber with Karen Yellowlees at the piano. Offering received by Dennis Yellowlees and Arthur Weir. Doxology was sung.
