'Region looking to trim budget From Page 1 Included in the cuts will be works and roads projects, as well as other projects which can 'be 'put off. Staff layoffs could - alsobe considered. Although it sounds easy to slash programs and services to save money, Mayor Howard Hall said it will not be that easy. He said the budget is already "trimmed so thin." ~ Councillor Christie said eve- rybody will be affected by the cuts and there won't be very many people who will be - pleased with the results. "We know there will be a lot of hurt feelings," she said. "It will be tough for people and the councillors to deal with it." | But she said they really have no choice in making the tough decisions. She believes part of the problem in dealing with the budget cuts is that people do not fully understand the difficult time this province is experiency) ing. 2". 4 Correction In the May 11issue of the Port Perry Star an article stated that Ribcor Developmend'represen- tative Lou Steifi was Sontem- lating an appeal to the Ontario Municipal pons concerning sewer allocations in the Town- ship of Scugog. - Mr. Stein says he has no in- tention of making such an ap- peal at this time.
