"A Family Tradition for 127 Years" Techstar bows out of playoffs The Techstar Bantam Bs lost their battle in the All-Ontario semi-finals to Lindsay this weekend. The team played great hockey throughout this series, but in each game they lost by a one goal difference. On Wednesday night we trav- elled to Lindsay and the Port fans thought we were in for a real treat when Kevin Gray scored after only 12 seconds into the game. The playmaker on this goal was Darryl Moase. However, that was our only goal of the game and despite a strong effort from the whole team, we just couldn't get past the Lind- say goaltender. Lindsay scored goals in the second and third pe- riods. Port's goaltender Jamie Trick played an awesome game, but couldn't keep Lindsay total- ly off the scoreboard. On Saturday the home crowd was treated to another nail bit- er. Port ended up on the loosing end of a 4-3 game, but not with- out playing their hearts out. Jeff Jamieson opened the scor- ing with a slap shot off the face- off win by Greg Thompson. Lindsay scored twice more be- Big V skates On Saturday, March 6 the Peewee house league finished off their regular season sched- ule with Emiels hosting Big V. Both teams came out flying with lots of end to end action. Big V got on the board first as Adam Stewart scored his first goal of the year with assists go- ing to Brad Monsma and David Bonser. Big V went ahead 2-0 as Jamie Sauter one-timed one into the net on a nice setup from Scott Harper. Also assisting on the play was Doug Short. e second period had Big V getting the only goal as Scott Fishfull fore the end of the period and then both teams remained scoreless for the second. Twenty seconds into the third period Todd Parry tied 'up the ame with the assist to Matt obbs. With only two minutes left in the game Lindsay got the go ahead goal. Lindsay was able to score once more into our open net, and despite a valiant effort by Jon Jamieson who scored with only 12 seconds left, the "Stars" were not able to tie up the game. Gord Bentley assist- ed on Jon's goal. Jamie Trick played another good game in net for Port. The goal tending for Lindsay has been spectacular throughout this series and probably part of the reason they are advancing on to the All-Ontario champion- ship. To the boys and coaching staff of Pete Christie, Jamie Menzies and Troy Glazier, and manager Sandra Trick, the parents would like to say, "thanks for a good year." We know the boys enjoyed a season of good hockey, good friends and a lot of fun! [|] to 3-0 win Sanderson scored from Scott Harper and Alex Wordley to give Big V a 8-Olead. The third period was a score- less affair as Emiel's goalie Corey Branton and Big V's goal- ie Doug Short both turned in outstanding performances, with Short picking up the shut- out, as Big V skated to a 3-0 win. Also having a strong game was Emiel's big defenceman Luke Newman who made nu- merous fine rushes up the ice and had some good shots from his point position. Thinking [$9 It's 1993 and bygone are the days of waiting for your order from an expensive American mail order fishing catalog. Canada now has an alternative. This alternative was created when an avid Canadian fisherman John Pettitt became sick of walking into Canada's tackle stores and finding the same things, nothing new, nothing exciting. So his only option was to shop mail order south of the border or to be content to use the same lures and tackle as everyone else on the water. Upon realizing that if he had this problem then he obviously was not the only one. He decided to do something-about it. In November 1991, Bass 'N' Buddy Pro Shoppes was born and brought a whole new meaning to Canadian retailing for the 90's. Bass 'N' Buddy Pro Shoppes is bound to set the standards for Canadian retailers. Due to the fact that when John Pettitt developed this Canadian mail order catalog his number one .-goal was to educate the angler. One example of this dedication to the education of today's angler is put together in such a way that enables the angler to pick the technique he or she plans to use and the Bass 'N' Buddy catalog will show them what equipment is needed for their choice technique. Bass 'n' Buddy Pro Shoppes' dedication to fishermen does not just apply to today's fishermen, it also extends to the fishermen of tomorrow. There are very few organizations with the same level of dedication to the promotion of catch and release as that of this one. Every time | hear of companies such as this a chill of fear runs up my back. For these are the type of organizations that turn your everyday angler into tomorrow's tournament superstars. Upcoming event: The Toronto Sportsman. Show starts March 12 and runs through to March 21. If you are interested in seeing what Bass 'N' Buddy Pro Shoppes has to offer drop by their booth at the call their toll free number at 1-800-263-9922.
