Report from police An 11-year-old girl suffered minor injuries after bein struck by a car on Regiona Road 2, Monday afternoon. According to Durham Region- al Police, the girl stepped off the west curb into the path of a southbound vehicle at approxi- mately 4:13 p.m. Witnesses say the vehicle was being driven properly and was within the speed limit. The girl was taken to Commu- nity Memorial Hospital with minor injuries including a cut to the head and a possible broken eg. A Lindsay man was killed Saturday night in a single- vehicle accident on Highway 12, north of the Cannington Side- road. According to Ontario Provin- cial Police in Beaverton, Brian Walker, 33, was killed when his northbound motorcycle struck a deer crossing the road. Mr. Walker was transferred to Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay where he was pro- nounced dead. OPP says excessive speed was involved in the accident. It is still under investigation. A Scugog woman who claims she was "in the right place at the right time," was honored by the township for her part in convict- ing anillegal dumper. Pat Purcell was presented with a certificate of recognition and a cheque for $300 by Mayor Hall on Monday for reporting theillegal dumping. According to Mrs. Purcell, she was looking out the window of her Allan Street home on May 18 when she saw a truck dump- ing a load of asphalt in a vacant field on Union Avenue. She im- mediately phoned the township office to report the incident. - A few months later she says the company was back again, this time trying to bury the waste, which she again reported to the township. Mrs. Purcell was required to testify in court in September, and according to Bylaw Enforce- ment Officer Bill Henshall, her testimony was instrumental in Complete coverage of all your Community events.
