EB I ANCA ON Yoo mp ety com "A Family Tradition for 126 Years" Pearce Novice Auctioneers The Port Perry Novice team played two close hard fought games this past weekend. On Friday night the boys were at home to Lindsay. Port Perry Jumped out to an early lead on a . fine solo effort as Dave Gray Uxbridge Swim Club By N. Hannah U.S.C. 1s back in the water competing after a long wait for the renovations to Uxpool to be completed. This weekend 33 swimmers competed in their first meet of the season at MacMaster Uni- versity in Hamilton. Swimmers raced on both Saturday and Sunday in timed final events. Most swimmers competed in seven different events and over the weekend 17 of our 33 swim- mers placed in the top six swim- mers in at least one event. Marsha and Brett Clouthier and Sandy Mark of Port Perry all had very rewarding week- ends. Marsha (13 and 14 year old girl) placed either first or sec- ond in all her seven events) Brent (11 and 12 year old boy) swam to three third place, three fourth place and one fifth in his races. Sandy Mark (senior boy) placed fifth in both 100 and 200 backstroke events. If you're curious about the Uxbridge Swim Club we're hosting our own meet at Uxpool on Sunday, Nov. 8 - all day. The public is encouraged to come over and take a look. Stop the chop From Page 21 From the bleachers black with people there rose a sullen roar. With Timlin as our pitcher needing only one strike more. And as Otis bunts the ball, that may bring his name to fame. Timlin makes the catch and throws to Carter - the Jays have won the game. All America was watching, mouths agape in disbelief. But the Jays had won the se- nes, and the Braves were in de- feat. So it doesn't seem to matter if our flag hangs upside down, Or the bad calls made against us - You can't keep a great team down! Oh! Somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright, The band is playing some- where, and somewhere hearts are light, And somewhere men are laugh- ing, and somewhere children hop, But there is no joy in Atlanta The Jays have stopped the chop!! Lindsay managed to tie the score, but Adam Moynes picked up the challenge and scored to regain the lead in the third peri- od. Lindsay tied the game with only 30 seconds remaining on the clock... victory had been so very close! Port Perry goaltend- er D'Arcy Stevens and Thomas Lee turned in a fine perfor- mance against'a hard shooting Lindsay team. On Saturday the team was on the road to play against Whitby. Whitby struck first with one goal in each of the first and sec- ond periods. Dean Van Camp scored early in the third period to narrow the gap. Our boys picked up the pace and worked hard, continuing to press the Whitby team. Whitby managed to score two more goals in the third period and to win the game 4-1. This game was a much closer contest than the score would indicate; we just didn't seem to get any breaks to- day: . Forwards Michael Wise- man and Jeff Tarbotton contin- ue their hard working style of play. The team will be in action this Monday night in Port Perry as they once again host the team from Lindsay. live-release of the bass. ceptable to the general public. 15,000 bass returned to Ontario waters by Shimano release program * More than 15,000 bass were safely returned to Ontario wa- ters during tournament action in 1992.
