People must still be making special holiday trips but they don't seem to desire publica- tion. The lady of the house paused, a postage stamp in one hand and an envelope in the other. We often complain about our modern stamps, especially after seeing earlier postage of two cents and three cents. A stamp, whatever it's value, is no more than a tiny scrap of flimsy paper. What we pay for it, plus GST is not the stamp, but the service we get. Without a stamp on the envelope from Scugog to Port Perry might cost quite a bit, and how should we receive a letter from Australia? There came to mind that shrewd comment by Josh Bill- ings, "Consider the postage stamp, my son. Its usefulness consists in its ability to stick to one thing till it gets there."
