This public meeting is called for Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Recreation Cen- tre. Do urge your friends and neighbors to be at this very im- portant meeting. All we have to do is to consider the terrible changes that would result to our community if this should be the area chosen to make us aware of the urgency of the meeting. Due to this meeting, the regu- lar Fair Board meeting will be postponed to the Thursday, July 16. After so many weeks of very dry weather it seemed ironic that rain fell on both Friday and Saturday evenings when the annual Tractor and Truck Pull was held. All events continued on even though a rain break was held. Naturally crowds were considerably smaller on both evenings but especially Saturday. Many excellent pulls were made with much fine com- petition. As usual Earle Trewin thrilled the crowd with his very colorful Pro-Stock Allis. Karen and Hugh Goodacre of following Newfoundland spent a couple of weeks visiting'her parents Mar- garet and Tony Duivesteyn and other relatives and friends in the area. Gordon Kelly of Hanover and Gayle Spencer of Owen Sound were weekend guests of his brother Gerald and Joyce Kelly and family. On Saturday, Gail and Joe Gauley entertained a number of friends and relatives in honor of their daughter Adrienne's fifth birthday. Quite a number of Adrienne"s friends from nur- sery school enjoyed her birth- day party. Happy birthday Adrienne. Of local interest to area folks visiting Cullen Gardens in Whitby are two buggies in the McCullough collection current- "ly on display. One was collected and owned by Llyod Trewin and the others "McLaughlin Trap" was preserved for posterity by the foresight of the late Bruce Mountjoy. This special vehicle was purchased at the Mountjoy Estate Sale by Laurie McCul- lough and restored to mint con- dition. The members of the United Church choir enjoyed a barbe- cue and social time on Sunday afternoon at the home of their choir leader and organist Linda and Bob Kyte and family. On Sunday afternoon, Kath- leen and Dalton Dorrell enjoyed a visit from Murray and Sandra Conrad of Markham who are friends from their winters in Florida. Rev. Doreen Van Camp is spending a week with her moth- er Mrs. Margaret Van Camp. Doreen has left her pastorate at St. James in the Valley, near Sudbury and will be moving to a new location in Saskatche- wan in late July. Sunday after- noon guests were Mr. and Mrs. andfill site information night Thursday Meerschaut of Napean and Mr. and Mrs. Stewart of Valentia. Lucky draws were won by Marie Moses, Freda Ashton, Roy Werry, Jim Gibson and Kathleen Watts. At the United Church regu- lar morning church service, the sacrament of Baptism was con- ducted by Rev. Dave Davis when Bradley Alan, son of Kar- en and Alan Houston was pre- sented. During the service Lin- da Kyte and Glenn Larmer sang a beautiful duet - the old favorite "Whispering Hope." Rev. D.
