Brock Reville, left of the Kinsmen Club of Port Perry and Pete | Kneale of the Kinsmen Club and Paulmac Pet Foods presented the cheque and a plaque to animal control officer Ann Barrett on Wednesday. The money was raised at the annual Pet Walk-a-thon which was sponsored by the Kinsmen Club of Port Perry and organized by Pete Kneale. The walk-a-thon raised $2,500 which was divided between the animal shelter and the Kinsmen Club's greatest needs projects. We are all of common origin From Page 15 lesser than the other. The best scenario is that these cultures are re-uniting, in effect becom- ing an alloy stronger than any of the base metals from which they were created. The impor- tant thing today is to strength- en the parts of the varied cul- tures that form the bonds and to drop those negative parts of our cultures that are divisive, such as those promoting, we - them, philosophies. There is no room today for those who promote the superiority of one race over an- other. It is not them and us, we are all of common origin, we just put on different suits and ad- ventured around the globe to meet thousands of years later here in North America. Now we have a wonderful pot-pourri of evolved cultural backgrounds to share. We are like four chil- dren that have gone on separate odysseys and now have re- turned to a common home to share our experiences. Unfortunately we are still go- ing through some of the nega- tive parts of becoming re- united, for some of the philoso- phies that were once necessary for survival are now a detri- ment to survival. I think for the most part we are enjoying the positive side. The articles in The Star about the history of the Mississaugas and the views of Joel Aldred are a great sharing.
