26 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, June 16, 1992 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Third annual Antique and Craft Show - Betty and Al Lindsay of Betal's Antiques of Port Perry were one of several local exhibitors at this past weekend's Antique and Craft Show and Sale held at Scugog Arena. Myrtle and area news Reports From The Fair Mary Housego out did herself once again this year at the Brooklin Spring Fair. Mary came in first with the highest point score in the Domestic Sci- ence section, for all her deli- cious baking and canning goods. Mary's beautiful flowers and arrangements gave her the second highest overall score in the Horticultural Section. Con- gratulations Mary! The 150th anniversary quilt was entered and it won first place for a quilt done by a group ororganization. There were several other Myrtle families that worked hard at their various talents and came home with an array of prizes. Congratulations to Car- ol Blea, Michelle Tillaart, Sonja Graham and their families. Michael Graham entered the Spelling Bee at the fair, Friday evening in the Grade 3 and 4 category, and won second prize. Michael is a Grade 3 student at Meadowcrest Public School. Well done! The weather co-operated this year and held off for the annual parade. Group 74 of Brooklin, presents this parade each year, and once again they did a su- perb job! Remember - the anniversary supperison June 20 at 5 p.m. at the church. Our community was very sad- dened by the sudden passing away of Jerry Stachow. He was an outstanding member of the Myrtle United Church for over 20 years and recently he be- came a valued member of the church choir. After retiring from his teaching career fin Whitby and Port Perry] Jerry spent his time volunteering his time to the Wheels to Meals in Brooklin and other organiza- tions. Our greaiest sympathies are extended to his wife Jean and children Jim, John, Jerry Jr., and Janet. He will be great- ly missed by us all.
