Taylor Ford Mites Fastball team win After an extremely difficult selection process in which lots of young and talented ball players showed their stuff, this year's "All-Star Mites" have been selected. This team will compete against eight other teams in the York-Durham" league. Our team got off to a good start on May 6, with a home- game 14-5 victory over Picker- ing. Mark Richardson, who is the only "regular" returning from last year's "All-Ontario" divisional champions has con- verted to the pitcher's spot this year and he recorded the victory in this game. He notched nine strikeouts and helped his own cause with a home run. Sean Jeffrey also made his debut out of the bullpen for Port Perry. The catching chores were handled by Adam Moynes who looked surprisingly comfortable behind the plate in his first game. Other home runs were hit by Darren Miller and Braden Tar- botton. David Justynski had two hits while teammates Tim Jones, Aaron Lycett, Matthew Skerratt, Chris Monsma and Shawn Martin all showed good batting eyes to earn a pair of walks each. Mike Lefort and re- serveman Mike Wiseman played well defensively in their first taste of competitive fast- . ball as well. Other reserve players select- ed to the team were John Bur- nett and Neil Allen. "Taylor-Ford's" next action will be at home again on May 13 at 6:30 p.m. on the Water St. south diamond against Stouff- ville. See you there!
