Ee TON nil EP "A Family Tradition for 125 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, May 12, 1992 - 21 Know how to act If separated from your children You've suddenly become sep- arated from your child in a crowded supermarket...you heart seems to be doing flip- flops and you are trying desper- ately to control that feeling of utter panic! Most of us have ex- perienced such feelings and quickly recovered when catch- ing sight of our ever-elusive off- spring...but...imagine just how you would feel during the onset of a major emergency when you are at work, your children at school, perhaps other loved ones in another part of the prov- ince or country! In Durham Region, the Red Cross has a responsibility to the community to deliver a Regis- tration and Inquiry Service. This service enables the reunit- ing of family members, thus al- leviating much of the stress caused by the unknown...and you can help! By attending one three-hour training session you can become proficient in completing the reg- istration and inquiry process and help your community dur- ing an emergency situation. Training sessions are free of charge and will take place on Saturday, May 9 and Saturday, 'May 30 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. For more information and to regis- ter, please contact Donna D. Hutton at 420-3383 or Fran Harsell at 723-2933. Homecoming events Lindsay: Children's Events will again be run in Victoria Park on Lindsay's Homecoming Summer Celebration weekend - Saturday, July 25, 1992, from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Like last year, lots of fun is to be had and great prizes to be won, only this, Chil- dren's Day will be bigger and better! A new event this year is pop- ular children's entertainer, Sandra Beech, who will be per- forming in the gazebo on Satur- day morning {times to be an- nounced at a later date}. Sandra's music will appeal to the little kid in everyone!!! More to follow. There will be a wide variety of events for all ages. For the younger set, there will be a di- aper change race, crawler and toddler's race, and for the older kids, all kinds of old-fashioned games - egg and spoon race, wa- ter balloon toss and even a lip sync contest for the budding star out there! For those who took in last year's show, you might remem- ber the talents of Tanglefoot - a trio of wonderful musicians who perform songs and stories of early Canada. They will return this year for another entertain- ing performance. Another repeat performer will be Polkaroo, who, of course, needs no introduction to the younger set. TV Ontario's lova- ble "pet" will be on hand to meet the youngsters and pose for pic- tures.
