And in the Region of Durham there is something for everybody no matter what age or physical fitness level. How does a nice long horseback ride on a summer's day sound, followed by a cool ride down a long waterslide ending in a nice dip in a refreshing pool? There are many opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors at a number of theme parks and recreational complexes in the area What about roller skating along some country trails, or relaxing with some karate lessons? If physical activities are not your passion, there is also some of the more peaceful as well as educational venues in Durham. From arts and crafts camps to music and computer camps, there is more than enough events to fill your day. If you've always dreamed of flying away into the wild blue yonder, why not take flying lessons at one of the local flying schools. Durham Region offers some of the most unique and fun summer activities anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area. With its wide open spaces and fresh air there is more than enough to do this summer in the Region of Durham. It's all out there and it's yours to try. The second addition is from artisan Jim Henry Smith of Eganville. It is a toy of the bus from Jimmy Frise's "Birdseye Centre." The bus is made out of maple, mahogany, poplar, basswood, oak, osage, sumac, padouk, walnut, purpleheart, cherry, ebony, and cedar woods. The Scugog Shores Museum Village has two new acquisitions on display. The first (pic- tured above) is a miniature replica of the "Crandella". The original Crandella was built in Lindsay by Commodore Crandella in the 1890s and was one of the first passenger boats from Lindsay to Port Perry. He operated it for 10 years before selling it to John Carew and Joseph Parkin. They continued operating the Crandella for a short time before it burned. The replica was constructed by Thomas Manns. Mr. Manns has loaned it to the museum and it will be on display until the end of the summer. Ln woh ic, dnl wR Ri, i. he i IS ET ter: Tei TTT rr HIE EIT AG r-- rr ----------
