, nati eens c ies dh SMA 45 Tine aa 26 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, April 28, 1992 Island United choir meets Friday at 7 p.n m. Scugog Island News by Reta Redes i see ee Allan and Beth Martyn have been back home over two weeks after an inspiring winter in Florida where it was a little chillier than usual yet condu- cive to getting around. They re- freshed former friendships and learned many new activities and crafts. Allan is not easily discou- raged with his physical handi- caps but takes advantage of the bright mornings for exercise "and neighborly chats. This won- derful couple continues an in- terest in all local activities with- in their scope. It will be a joy to share their latest hobbies with Snoopies, lamps, shells and gar- den supplies. We are all interested in Ethel Freeman's recent surgery and are pleased to report it was quite successful and as usual she is in high spirits and look- ing forward to a bright future. She will soon be moved to the Riverdale Convalescent Home where we'll find her address so you can send her news and cheery mail. This Thursday, the Scugog Elders will meet at the Island United Church at 7:30 p.m. For the time being the Island United Choir will meet Friday's at 7 p.m at time more suitable for the young people. We are pleased to welcome more male voices as Mr. Wanamaker and Mr. Tony Davis from one of the Beaches. This week the Head U.C.W. will meet a week earlier on ac- count of the beef supper on May 6. Therefore we hope to see all the ladies this Thursday at the home of Pat McGhee on April 29. This coming Sunday will be known as Camping Sunday at the Island United when parents and children will get first hand information about camp Quin- Mo-Lac from Janet Lamb who has had a life long interest in it from early camping days to leader. Apparently there is also a need for restored equipment. Former campers often talk about their memories and have even kept some contact with for- mer leaders. We are pleased to report Nel- son Reader is slowly improving after a four week stretch of bronchitis and touch of pneumo- nia which was probably pro- longed through the maple syrup season with required tasks. John Beckett is slowly im- proving after his cataract sur- gery so has not been able to con- tact so many people with tickets for the beef supper on May 6, at the Island Hall Head U.CW. at 5:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. So tickets may be obtained by calling Bonnie Gerrow at 985-7426.
