She's pictured above with her granddaughter Stephanie displaying the quilt. Everyone is welcome to attend the auction. The proceeds will go toward the upkeep of the church. The community was saddened with the news of the passing of Mar- jorie Bradburn. Sympathy is ex- tended to her sons Donald and Ivan and his family. Funeral services will be held Monday in Port Perry. Last week Blackstock lost another of its esteemed seniors with the passing of Mrs. Belle Werry in her 96th year. Condolances are sent to her son Neil and Eleanor Werry and their family Carol and Rob Mairs, Larry and Joanne Werry and Joy and Ian Rudkin and to great- grandchildren Katie and Steve Mairs. What changes Mrs. Werry had experienced in her long lifetime. A good crowd attended the meeting regarding the closure of the post office but the majority of those who attended felt that little concrete information was given. There were 14 tables of euchre at the weekly card party with the following winners: Jim Gibson, Doris Redman, Harvey Partner, Fern Gibson, Verna Draper, George Allsion, Mary Finney and Norman Rohrer, low. Lucky draws were won by Ruby Smith, Dorothy Archer, Lorna Swain, Harold Swain, Ber- nice Loudfoot, Mary Poots and Grant Bright. Dr. Jack and Marion Marlow of Dundas spent the weekend with her sister Gwenyth Thompson visiting their many relatives in the area. A very successful Music Feast 92 was held in the Blackstock Recrea- tion Centre on Thursday evening, April 16. This exciting money- making event was sponsored by the parents, teachers and members of the Cartwright High School Band. After a delicious roast beef dinner the silent auctions and raffles kept everyone in suspense. Congratula- tions for a great success. Congratulations to Dave and Leah Frew who celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary with a dance at the Rec. Centre on Saturday evening. Guests were present from many areas. A delightful party. Easter guests of Peggy and Ralph Larmer were John Larmer, Ux- bridge, Sharon Goulding, Heather and Darryl, Dave and Ingrid Larmer, Robert and Steven. Marie and Cecil Gibson hosted their family for an Easter dinner on Friday evening. Joan and Harvey Graham hosted a family gathering when their guests were Muriel Hoskin, Pat Fletcher, Diana Fletcher, Scott Fletcher and friend, Port Perry, Ron and Sandra Hoskin, Tracy Hoskin, Gerald and Joyce Kelly all of Blackstock, Rob Graham, Toron- to, Mark Graham and Shelley Holliday. Neil and Noreen Malcolm hosted an Easter family gathering on Easter Sunday with their guests as Mary Lou and David Kellogg, Janelle and Natalie of Welcome, Jamie Malcolm, Brennan and Alaina. Seniors enjoy historic look at Port The first meeting of the month was a very successful pot luck affair. All our snow birds are back so that really in- creased our numbers. Welcome, back, it was good to see all of you. As this was our Easter cele- bration the club supplied the meat and the dessert. Mae Whybrow provided a beautiful tender ham which was finished off with cake and ice-cream. The members brought vegetable dishes which they did in quanti- ty and variety. After supper we were enter- tained to a slide show of historic scenes of early Port Perry nar- rated by Paul Arculus. Our town really has a fascinating history and we are fortunate to have people like Paul Arculus and Bill Brock to take the trou- ble to record our heritage in nar- rative and on slides. A couple of interesting things were announced at our meeting session. We have had a New Ho- rizons grant approved in the amount of approximately $20,000 to be used for the re- structuring of the front en- trance of the Latcham Centre. We were also advised that Birds Eye Pool will be available to seniors on Thursday after- noons. The women are getting their cameras ready to take some pot shots. Doris and Ann reminded you to remember their what-not ta- ble. The exchange of paper- backs is a popular item. Next meeting is April 22, the fourth Wednesday of the month. Eu- chres will be held on Wednes- day the 15th at 2 p.m. and Sat- urday the 25th at 7:30 p.m. Don't forget the Big Band Bash of 50s and 60s oldies to be held at the Island dance hall on Fri- day, April 24. This will be a kick off to the Kinsmen 's cross Cana- da flag day celebrations all day on the 25th.
