Over the past months, and with the assistance of government ministries and agencies, municipalities, Aboriginal representatives, interested organizations and others, the project staff have collected and evaluated information on various land use, environmental, socio-economic, technical and other factors in the study area. Based on this information, a number of corridors and zones have been identified (see map) in which further detailed studies will be conducted to identify alternative transmission line routes and transformer or switching station sites.Ontario Hydro is holding Information Centres throughout the study area to discuss the study, review these corridors and zones, and include your comments in the planning process. Representatives of Ontario Hydro will be present to answer your questions. Maps The new facilities that could be required beginning in 2002 include two 500,000 volt (500 kV) single-circuit transmission lines from Hanmer Transformer Station near Sudbury to a new transformer station in the northeast GTA. This transformer station would be connected by a new 500 kV double-circuit transmission line to existing lines to the east and northwest of Toronto, terminating at existing or new transformer or switching stations. Sections of right-of-way in the GTA could include new 230 kV lines to connect these new facilities into the existing local power supply system. Considering potential long term needs, a third 500 kV single-circuit line between Sudbury and the Toronto area and a second 500 kV and 230 kV double- circuit line around the north and east GTA could also be required. In addition to identifying new transmission routes, the study will consider using existing Public involvement is an integral component of the environmental assessment process. The complete route and site selection study will be documented in an environmental assessment report and submitted to the Minister of the Environment for review in mid-1994, and will be the subject of a public hearing under the Open to the public from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, April 7, 1992 - 25 On Thursday evening the weekly Ed and Catherine Daigle have tend their daughter Donna's euchre had 13 tables.
