"A Family Tradition for 125 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, March 10, 1992 - 27 Pee Wee Overhead Doors on a rampage The second season play off round has breathed new life into the Scugog Overhead Door Pee Wee's as they now have only one loss and six straight wins in seven games with two- more remaining. Their fifth game was played on March 1, 1992 in Uxbridge and Port skated to an easy victo- ry beating the home team 5 to 3. Port had full command of the game with four goals to none up to the 8:03 minute mark of the third period. At that point, the guys got a little too relaxed and allowed Uxbridge to pop in three goals giving the parents and coaches quite a scare. The Doors turned it on again and sored their fifth goal with just 12 seconds left to end the game. Kevin Gray and Darryl Moase each scored twice with Kristan Wootton getting the loner. Assists went to Strickert 1, Gray 3, Laird 2, Moase 1, and Wootton 1. Paul Shrigley and Kent John- ston shared the goal tending du- ties again with both guys com- ing up with the big saves when they needed them. Game seven was played on March 4, 1992 in Port Perry against Pickering. The Doors team came out fly- ing and every line threw some heavy hits that really slowed the visitors down. The period was totally dominated by Port and ended 2 to 0 on goals by Ke- vin Gray and Jamie Strickert with assists to Moase 2, Strick- ert 1 and Baxter 1. Pickering decided they had enough and started hitting back in the second that resulted in two goals to tie it up after two periods of some very rough and chippy play. The final period played even as did the hitting until Bobby Cracknell fired a blue line shot into an unattended net as Pick- ering goalie was off to the side giving a Port forward an elbow and a hug. Port scored again with just 28 seconds left into an empty net by Jason Hopkins to end the game 4 to 2. Robinson 1 and Smith 1 assisted on these goals. Both Kent Johnston and Paul Shrigley played another out- standing game with each shar- ing the duties and each making numerous excellent saves ... goaltending just doesn't get any better then this duo. It was a total team effort with special mention going to Kevin Gray and Darryl Moase who both played super in games five and seven. S. A.
