"A Famlly Tradition for 125 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, March 10, 1992 - 15 Pancake breakfast was a success Thanks to the gentlemen of our church - the pancake breakfast was very successful. There was a good crowd at the church service follow- ing the breakfast when a special col- lection was taken to send to Guyana with Frank Van Veghel. On Tuesday the U.C.W. will meet at the home of Clara Jones for dessert luncheon at 1 p.m. -- regular meeting will be at 2 p.m. If possible attend the seniors lunch and bake sale this Friday, March 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds are to go to the Hospital Foundation. This will take place in our room in the Music Hall. Then on March 17 the regular meeting is in the auditorium of the hall -- eveyone is welcome. On March 14 members from the W.1. will be entertained at the home of Nolan and Stella Roberts with a social evening of dinner and games. Members bring your husbands and another couple. On March 25 the regular meeting of the W.I. will be at the home of Barbara Rance. International Af- fairs Convention - several will tell of the convention in Vancouver last summer. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ross of Cochrane have been re-newing friendships in the area. On April 8 the W.I. will hold their spring luncheon in the Friendship Hall in the United Church. Luncheon will be followed by the program '"'Personal Touch' with guest demonstrator. Tickets to be at Guardian Drugs and also from and member. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Watson were in Pickering on Saturday evening to help their granddaughter Michelle celebrate her 21st birthday. It was a dark, foggy night and they couldn't see to turn onto Medd Road and had to go to Reach St. where there is a light. Paul and Shirley Baster, daughter Cathy and friend David Burkett visited the native village at Curve Lake on Sunday afternoon and returned to the Baster home for dinner. Uncle Ern Simpson of Uxbridge visited Earl and Marie Wilson on Tuesday. On Sunday, Earl and Marie, Scott and friend visited Richard and Joyce Lewchuk at Kitchener. Just a few lines to tell you what our school children have been doing which makes the 3Rs more interesting. On Feb. 20 they had skating at the rink in Uxbridge for Epsom and Greenbank students from 1-2:30 p.m. right after skating the skiers went. One day Mrs. Banting came to the school to talk about the 3Rs - Reduce, Re-use, Recycle, she said to use them in order like 1, 2, 3. If you are interested in Y. Camp Samac Day Camps - infor- mation for summer camp is available by calling the school. Report cards will go home Thurs- day, March 12 - the last day of the second term. Parents meeting (S.A.C.) is at 1:15 on March 11. We welcome all rents from Epsom and Green- fort to attend. Topics to be discuss- ed include past fundraising, future family portraits, educator's breakfast and playground equipment. Epsom and Greenbank Schools skied at Lakeridge every Thursday for six weeks. Mrs. Beirness organized this sport and the children thank Mrs. Beirness and all those who helped her with this big task. Mr. Fisher videotaped the skiers the last time they were there. On March 6 there was a spring water awareness presentation at Epsom. On Monday of this week Mrs. Beirness's and Mr. Scott's class visited Purple Woods Conser- iIU's Bimne vation Area to learn the techniques of maple syrup production. Four Epsom students from Grades 5 and 6 class attended a public speaking contest at the Royal Canadian Legion. Michelle Belair 10 Vanedward Drive, Port Perry 985-8474 and Tanya Wilson spoke at Ux- bridge Legion and Jordon McKay and Sarah Beirness spoke at the Port Perry Legion.
