Tuesday night in Cobourg, a pair of goals from Sean Ellis and outstanding goaltending by Mike Pashley spearheaded a great team effort to give Country Style a 2-1 win and tie the series at five points each. Ellis took a pass from Jay Tredway in the slot halfway through the first period and fired a nice shot to give Port the lead. Near the middle of the second, Ellis blasted a long shot from the blue line that skinned the outside of the post, then rebounded perfectly to bounce off the goaltender's skate into the net for a 2-0 lead. The Cougars finally got on the board ear- ly in the third, scoring a power-play goal that gave Pashley no chance. In spite of three third period penalties, Port held on to go home winners. Everybody turned in a great per- formance, with Pashley stoning the big shooters repeatedly. Saturday night at home, Port took over where they left off in Cobourg. Pashley was fire-cracker hot again, stopping three clean breakaways in Midget Bs drop series to Owen Sound 3-1 Canadian 'l'ire Midget B Is- landers made the long trek to Owen Sound by bus on Feb. 18. Play was even in the third but the officials seemed to favor Owen Sound on several calls . and as a result of an offside that should have taken the faceoff into the Owen Sound end, a goal was scored with only three sec- onds left on the clock to give the game to Owen Sound by a score of 4-3 and the series 3-2. the first period alone. The scorers were hot too, building a 5-1 lead by the middle of the game. Then the roof fell in and the Cougars netted six straight goals to take a 7-5 over- time win and a 7-5 point lead in the series. Ellis got Port going in the first minute when he took Tredway's pass while on a line change, blasted the puck from almost center and beat a partially screened goalie cleanly.
