At the time he was a singer and a song- writer and working at Lake on the Mountain Resort. Two months before his accident, he'd received rave reviews for his performance in the Mummers production of Jo- seph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat! A few weeks after his accident, the owners of the resort, Joan and Gilles Chrétien, held a fund raising con- cert at the resort to assist MacKay. This was the 1st Mu- sic on the Mountain. One year after his accident, Christopher MacKay founded a charitable organization known as STANDING OVATION and since that time he has returned to the stage as a motivational speaker and musician. Proceeds from all his performances go toward spinal cord research through his foundation. The concert, held in his honour six years ago, has now become a major fund raiser with thousands of people now attending the annual event know as Music on the Mountain. Located at the beautiful Lake on the Mountain in Picton, Ontario, this music festival is unique as it features the most eclectic gathering of musicians in Eastern On- tario. Jazz, folk, rock, country, and blues are featured in this event that attracts international recording artists and local talent all of whom contribute their time to raise awareness of spinal cord research.
