SAE RN Gam SS VE Municipally Yours, REE SEA Trivia time... 1. How many kilometers of roads are there in the County? ( 1100) 2. How many municipally owned buildings/facilities are there? ( 80) 3. How many parks are there? ( 34) 4. How many cemeteries does the municipality take care of? Do they have to? (40 - many pioneer status - and Yes by provincial law) 5. What's the average number of animal control calls received per year? ( 300) 6. What's the average number of building permits is- sued per year? ( 800) And a freebee - there are about 400 property and by- law enforcement complaints per year. Now these are irrelevant figures to most of us ( I'll only need one cemetery), but when there are com- plaints about the number of County vehicles on the road, it's some background to the many tasks that are underway using them - including weekends, nights and on-call. All vehicles are identified by number and department, so if you have a complaint - or a compli- ment! - regarding vehicle and operator activity, take time to note those details. Roads... The updated long term plan for roads maintenance and construction was presented at the last Public Works meeting. South Marysburgh entered amalgamation as the poor cousin in this regard only ( we still have 1/3 of the 77 km of seasonal roads total in the County) but I am very pleased with the work done over the last five years. That pesky last kilometer at the south end of the Old Milford Road is scheduled for next year SEB LCE EA a EE SX BE LT TE RR A Gt vat rm esa and the remainder of Crowe's Road for reconstruction in 2008. If you are aware of sections of road that are in bad shape, please call me so I can ensure they are not missed in the plan. I try to travel all the township roads every month with the exception of seasonal roads. The latter have been scheduled for activity over this year's road work season as well. When you receive this Mirror, the opening of the Mil- ford Bridge will have been completed, along with the unveiling of two murals and the historical sign. I want to extend a personal thank you to all the folks who have worked on these projects - a long list - the spon- sors , the artists, the building owners, County staff etc. I also want to thank the Milford in Bloom "Bloomers" for their work with the barrels and flower boxes about the "extended" village. They're a welcome decoration and a little bit of work from each owner/recipient adds to a great overall effect. If you still have an empty bar- rel , it's not to late to put in a few geraniums or a chry- santhemum that will bloom into the fall. Wishing you a safe and healthy summer season...
