Old Timer - Continued from page 6 suckers having provided much sport and many a good meal. Ed Rose has been out here, He'll admit it, I am sure; And fished lots of times And got suckers galore Now there is Mert Ostrander, And John Head too, Have eaten lots of suckers The same as me and you. Cole Whattam, he hates them Says "I'd rather have a pike," But when he gets hungry To Milford he will hike. Oh yes, there's Bert Biddle, And our friend Levi Hicks, They too have fished for suckers In this old Milford crick. So boys don't condemn them, Just say that they are good, And stop teasing us old-timers, It would be better if you would. - Writer Unknown (If the reader happens to know the identity of the author please contact the Mirror) A No a FT LE TR ES A TER ON) FUT ss Sev Hicks' 90th Birthday at South Bay United Church on Sat., Any memorabilia would be ~ The South Marysburgh Mirror RT Ce TT oie Parlor By Attie Mekee Pearls from the Parlor ~ That's the name of Arlie McKee's latest CD. And with 22 gems including "Tennessee Waltz", "Are You Lonesome Tonight", "Please Release Me", "Blue Canadian Rockies" it definitely is an appropriate title. Due to fragile health, Arlie wasn't sure whether she would actually make another CD but her fans won out, "People kept encouraging me to do another." Arlie loves the old time tunes and these are many of her personal favourites. There are also a cou- ple of polkas to liven things up. As with the first CD, Paul Johnson (Through the Cedars Music Production) came to Arlie's home and recorded her playing on her favourite piano. No accompaniment is needed with Arlie's experienced hands and unique style that she has developed over nearly 70 years. I've listened to this latest CD with its wonderful tunes and found it to be "just what the doctor ordered". It's very relaxing to sit back on these hot, hazy days and let the music and the memories flow. I can almost hear my blood pressure dropping. Arlie puts such love and positive energy into her music it's hard to believe her heart is so weak. I do be- lieve though that her music is as therapeutic to her as it is to we listeners. Take a retired nurse's advice and pick up this gem. It's available at Hicks' Store, Milford, Books on the Bay and Sue's Crafts in Picton, Schroeder's Farm Market on Cty RD 1 or by calling Arlie at 476-4481. - Respectfully submitted by Bonnie McIntosh
