Archie cultivated down in the Forth field on the Flats. May 2 I sowed two bus of Barley down in the Forth field on the Flats. Sarrah Eliza Rorke and Myrtle Spafford were to Libs. Sun. 3 Stratton Lowry and I were to Daniel Palmateers. May 4 I cultivated down on the Flats for the Perfection Peas. It was quite warm we haven't had no rain this Spring. Jake sowed his Kents Peas. May 5 Paw and Jake went Back on Colman Wattam got two Sills one 44 ft. long and the other 40 ft long. May 6 I drilled in the Jems Peas in the Swamp three bushel with Nelse Ostrander drill and the Vetch's Perfection in the Second and third field on the Flats. Jake and I went back on Colman Wattam got a 28 ft beam and a 10 ft stick to splice on a sill. May 7 I sowed Six bushel of Barley down on the Flats in the Forth field. Paw and Maw were over to Picton. May 8 We had a nice little rain for the first this Spring. Mr. Spafford was to Jakes helping him drag. 9 We had a bea putting the Foundation on for the Barn. Sun.10 It was a very warm day. John Collier come down to Jakes and we went down to the Union to meeting they have change it from the Carman to the Union at the hour. Half past two oclock. May 11 Mr. Cole from Bloomfield come down and raised the Barn since Manson Head has started the Barn he has been 28 day and a half. Mr. Cole's cost for raising the Barn was 8.00 Dollars. It was a very warm day. May 12 Paw and I sowed 8 bus of Barley Back that fin- ished our Sowing up for this spring. May 13 I commenced to cultivated the Point field for the corn. May 14 I went up to Mr. John Ostrander and got 644 bls of peas for the Hogs and 4.05 lbs of oats for the Horses. May 15 I am going to Stay home now and will keep this book at my home. We fixed the fence in the swamp. Collie killed three coons. May16 Paw and Maw went over to Picton. Paw got 500 hundred of flour. Archie and I were down to Jakes helping him draw out Manure. May 20 Archie ganged In the point field. Paw and I planted five bushel of potatoes on the flats. The lumber come from Trenton on a Batteau. May 21 Philip McCrimmon Jake, Levi Hicks, Emerson Hi- neman, Henry Wattam helped us draw the lumber down from the Farmers dock. There was 25 thousands of cedr shingles @$2.00= $50.00, 5000 ft match lumber @14.10= $70.50 and 10,000 ft lumber @5.10= 56.00 Total $176.50 May 22 Paw and I finished planting the potatoes altogether makes 12 bushel. Archie finished ganging the point field and we draged and rolled it down. May 23 We planted the point field with corn 1 bushel and a peck. May 24 Mr. Lighthall and Wife were over for a visit. I went up to the Valley to Mr. Minakers for a visit. May 25 I was over to Picton there was a very large crowd there. Manson Head commenced to enclose the barn. At night we had a nice rain the most we have had this spring. May 26 I was helping Manson working at the barn the wind blew very hard from the west. May 27 We was working at the barn enclosing it. May 28 It rained a little. It was very cold and the wind blew very hard. May 29 Paw went up to Mr. John Ostranders after six bush- els of peas for Jake. Jake help us work at the barn In the af- ternoon Paw went down to Jakes and sowed 4 1/2 bus of peas for Jake. May 30 It is very cold for the time of year. We are all working at the barn but Archie. He is down to Jakes gang- ing in some peas for Jake.
