"WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS" Music plays an important role in all our lives. It has the power to quicken our pulses, calm our nerves, move us to action or provide comfort. We have all had the experience of a few fa- miliar notes bringing back a flood of memories. Melodies can linger in our minds and hearts long after much else has faded. Listeners agree that it is both memories and solace that Renie Thompson's CD, "Going Home" conveys to them. A col- lection of familiar country and gospel classics combined with lo- cally penned original compositions by Danyne err and Olive Cooper. "Going Home" is pure country, it is a tribute to both days gone by and loved ones who have passed on" explains Renie, "I grew up listening to and being inspired by this kind of music. There's definitely an old fashioned feel to this CD, ex- actly what I wanted to accomplish, in large part due to the talents of Paul Johnson and Rob Kellough at Through the Cedars Music Productions". The list of back up singers and -- reads like a County music who's who, featuring Trish Hause, David and Lenore Bongard, Bill Ostrander, Annette McIntosh, Zeke Ma- surek, Jean Fraser, Michelle Found and Jon Milford. Renie is quick to give credit to her family and friends for their support. She states "I count my blessings. My solution was to convert both the R/W CD- drive and the 80G HD into portable devices that simply plug in to the USB port on any computer. They have their own power supplies (i.e., plug into power mains) and are 'plug-and-play' for later versions of Windows and/or MAC 0S8.6 or later. There are drivers for earlier versions of Windows. Wired USB cases cost $25-835 each. Installing the CD-drive and HD into their respective cases took about 10 minutes and requires a screw driver. Case size depends tonnes of data on the old hard drive. Here is a quick and cheap solution to these concerns. I recently upgraded my old home computer with a new one. The machine I was replacing had an 80Gig hard drive and a Read/Write CD drive. My new machine had only a 1" high CD-Read drive and I could not swap in the older 2.5" high R/W CD-drive. Also, the 80G HD made an on component size. My 80G HD case is the size of a pa- perback book.
