Pa cultivated the corn back. Thurs. 2 - Pa and Ma went up to Nelse Ostrander's I ganged ploughed on the Flats. Mirt was very busy all day ironing. There was an ice cream social at George Collins residence. Mert, Pa and I went up had a very nice time. Fri. 3 Pa went up to Nelse Ostranders to help him thrash. Visitors to-day: Maud Dulmage and Florence. Maud stayed all night. Went out to League with Mirt and I. Sat. 4 Pa went up to Nelse Ostrander's took twelve bushels of fall wheat to store mills. I went up to Jakes. Byrn and I drew in some wheat. It was quite warm and very dry. Sun. 5 Mirt and I went out to Sunday School and then on down to Mr. Spaffords. We all went to Carman's at night. It was very hot all day. Mon. 6 Pa reaped oats and finished up on the flats. I fixed the water fence out farther. It was one of the hottest days I think we have had this summer. Tues. 7 I cultivated the corn on the Flat. Corn will be a complete failure if we don't get rain in a few days. Wed. 8 I helped S. McLaughlin stack his oats. Pa finished the Oats back and then went up to Mr. Jenkins. Got 10 bushels of rye and 10 bushels barley from George Wattam. Took it to A. Collins to get ground. Thurs. 9 Drew in 3 loads of oats from the flats and one from back. Will did the horse railing. Fri. 10 A very sharp little shower of rain this morning not lasting long. Afer dinner drew in three loads of oats. Sat. 11 Drew in six loads of oats - that finished us all up but the Rye. Mirt horse raked the stubble. She is getting quite handy to work with horses. Sun. 12 Pa and Ma went around to Ida's. Mirt, Aunt Lydia Mountany and I alone all day. It was quite cool, windy. Mon. 13 Well, rain has come at last. I went out to Uncle Nath's with Nelse strander to put in new cross stick in the tongue of the separator. Killed the little steer. Tues. 14 Pa piddled the little steer out. Mr. Spafford was up to get a couple of shoes set on his horse. Ma and Mirt went down to Uncle Dan's place to pick some currants. Wed. 15 Pa cut burrs most of the day. I went down to the flats to plow for Rye in the line field. Thurs. 16 Ploughed till noon. Then we drew the Tye in. It was quite warm. Mirt had a big ironing on hand all day and wasn't able to do the raking. Fri. 17 Helped S. McLaughin thrash his stack. Then went to ploughing after dinner. Will Wright was up. Mirt, Nell and I went out to League. Mr. Coone led.He is going to leave Monday - hate to see him go. Sat. 18 Mirt and I went over to Picton. Jake and Lili were there. Mitt got some ticking and sheets. I got two pairs of pants and some shirts. We got home about seven o'clock. Pa helped F. Smith thrash in the afternoon. Sun. 19 Monthly meeting at the Carsons conducted by Mr. Adams of Milford. There was a large turn out. When Mirt and 1 got home Jake and Lili were here. Mon. 20 We are needing rain now very much. I ploughed all day. Mirt and Pa picked some apples, then went to pil- ing wood in the wood house. Tues. 21 I helped Phil McCrimmon thrash. Mirt went down to see Spaffords make my shirts. Wed. 22 1 was ploughing and it was very warm - want rain very bad. Ma went over to Ida's with Aunt Gatchens Mcintosh. Thurs. 23 Mr. Spafford fitch wire-up and stayed al night. Pa and Ma went up to Annie Mauds. Fri. 24 It was very warm and [ only ploughed part of the day. Ihave been using three horses to plough. Sat. 25 Pa and Ma arrived this morning from Jake's but been to Picton bring with them an old fashion top buggy that Pa bought off Clark for Six Dollars! Sun. 26 Mr. Foster our pastor for the year preached his first Sermon at the stone school house. Tues. 28 Mirt and I went down to Mr. Spafford's after milking. Heard that John Warrington's wife was dead. Wed. 29 Mr.Foster made a call. He seems like a very fine man. Mr. Spafford and wife Ina over here for dinner. After dinner we went round to Mrs. John Warrington's funeral. There was a very large crowd attended. Pa went over to Picton - got the old buggy tires set-got a sprayer. Thurs 30 I helped Coleman Wattam thrash- quite warm. No rain yet-guess the B.wheat will be a failure. Fri. 31 The Ptr. Merit took an excursion to Kingston and Thousand Islands.
