| Milford Fair - Cont'd from page 2 same dog -- or another entry. It's for the most popular dog in the contest. Now the judges are trying to figure out how to measure the popularity. Although the kids could all go home and vote via the Internet, as an alternative may I sug- gest the use of an "a-paws" metre? (Puns are like peanuts -- just one isn't enough). Oh -- and where are all the cat lov- ers as this is going on? Prince Edward County Takes Over Fair Board! This one is absolutely true. But it's years too late, and no Local Radio Personality to Lead Fair Parade! Another headline that's true. Not so local as an an- nouncer from Radio Free Milford (how's that for starting another rumour?), but someone who brings an expression of community to South Marysburgh as he does all around the area, whenever you turn your radio to AM 800 at 9:10 every weekday morning. Peter Thompson of the open-line show on CJBQ has agreed to be the Grand Marshall of the parade this year. This is an example of how ideas grow. At a recent Fair Board meeting we tried to think whom we would like to invite as Grand Marshall, having agreed that it was a good idea to have one. There's that change thing big deal -- even though it sounds like a 'big-brother' kind of again! Peter Thompson's name came up -- he's in the home thing. The Milford Fair Board is part of the local Recrea- tion Committee, which is part of the Department of Com- munity Services for the County. While volunteers do all of the local work, we've found the Department of Community Services to be extremely helpful, whenever we've asked for help. This year we've got a member of the local community who is both a Fair Board member and a member of the De- partment. Elizabeth Hunter is particularly interested in de- veloping ideas for the celebration of the Milford Fair's six- tieth anniversary next year. If you have any suggestions and / or mementos that could be put on display give her a call at 476-1159, extension 24, or e-mail her at ehunter@pecounty.on.ca. For all of you who thought a tomato was round and red... We would like to invite you to the Heirloom end Sept. 3rd & 4th. With over 75 different varieties to taste for free. And bring along your neighbour. Vicki's Veggies Hurrah - tomato tasting on Labour Day Week- (radio) of lots of people around here who enjoy his show. So the Fair Board president wrote a letter asking him if he would come. And he said that he would be delighted. We are too. Former Church Emits Beacon of Light! Here's a headline that's premature, but it will come trae. Just like last year, there's a great dinner and early-evening show lined up for this year. The dinner will be in the barn, just as it was last year. The show at Mount Tabor, which will start shortly after the dinner finishes, is "Beacon of Light", with Dave Bongard and friends.
