Winners in the Milford Fair Booklet Cover contest at South Marysburgh were students: Nathalie W., Alex L., and Mackenzie M. The Athol-South Marysburgh Junior 3-Pitch team competed in the County Tournament at Sophiasburgh on June 6 under the direction of coach Brenda Kerr. The team won their first two games against Mass./Red. 'B' and Son- rise, but lost a close one to Pinecrest "A," and were de- feated on the way to the semi-finals. The Boy's 3-Pitch team competed on June 13 at the Picton Fairgrounds and went down to Pinecrest, but beat CML 'B' to win the semi- finals. The team fought hard in the heat, but were finally defeated by the CML 'A' team. South Marysburgh Artists of the Month for June were: JK- Adam G., SK- Kyle W., Grade 1/2- Courtney S. and Grade 2/3- Graysen S. Other honourable mentions in June went to Athol students Bethany I. and Quinn S. who successfully audi- a week, a donation, a yard or bake sale or even quitting smoking to "stash the cash." The Cherry Volley Art Schoo] was formed in June under the sponsorship of the Athol Recreation Committee. This year the school will offer a one-week summer art program with one-day workshops in creative writing, cooking, art, newspaper camp and photography from July 18-22 at the Athol Community Hall. An Athol student was selected for a one-week arts scholarship award sponsored by the South Bay United Church Community Outreach Fund. This year the honour went to Jennica R. for her talent and dedication within the arts. The school plans to offer an exciting six weeks of arts programming next summer with area artists already signing on to conduct week-long, half-day workshops. Some of the featured pro- grams will be black and white photography, acrylic paint- ing, stained glass and mask-making. The Athol Junior Reporters' Club had the opportunity to interview Mayor Leo Finnegan on * June 28. A photo and story were submitted to area newspa- pers.
