U.C.W. met at South Bay United Church Hall on Wednesday, June 8th, at 1:30 p.m. President Sandra Emlaw told the story of the preacher who only had one parishioner turn up for the ser- vice. He preached the whole sermon and afterwards the old farmer informed him that if he only had one hen come to eat, he wouldn't give the feed that he would give to the whole flock. Our purpose, hymn and Lord's Prayer followed Marge Drury's devotional was taken from Phillipians 4, verses 6 and 7. A shabby man went into a church at noon each day, knelt at the altar and thanked God for taking away his sins making him a heppy man. His attitude af- fected many people. Sixteen members answered roll call by telling of their favourite flour. Nineteen sick calls were made. Our U.C.W. has been invited to join with our neighbours in Cherry Valley for an evening of fellow- ship on Wednesday, June 15th at 8:00 p.m. Treasurer Joyce Minaker reported our finances. Our Strawberry Social will be held Saturday, June 25th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Every one is to bring a cake but there will be no bake table this year. We are to meet on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. to hull berries Our fish fry will be on Wednesday, August 17th, from 4:30 TO 7:00 P.M. we will set up tables on Tues- day, August 16th at 9:30-a.m. Our U.C.W. will host the Fall Rally on Thursday, September 2 1st. Brenda Minaker's program was a poem about three little Amish girls. Marge Drury's contest tested how observant we are. The lunch was prepared by Marge Drury and helped a little by her sister Alice Miller. They were gra- ciously thanked by Irene Robb.
