Municipally Yours Well this is a column of good news and bad news as far as I am concerned. On the good news front, it was an absolutely fabulous Fair. Thank you so much to all the folks who worked so hard to give us such a great event. My personal thanks to Andrew Ferguson who took my place in the dunk tank to save my bad hip a bruising. Dunking peo- ple seemed pretty easy this year so I wasn't sorry to have a replacement! Crowe's Road has been straightened somewhat and will be elevated to year round maintenance status. Shortly, we should be seeing a new sidewalk on the west side of the street in Milford from the post office down to The Empo- rium. Murphy and Old Milford (north end) roads should finally see surface treatment applied in the next week, so I am told. Rain has slowed down the contractors on other Jobs elsewhere, so we continue with our place in their line, only later. Projected costs on everything from insurance to road building seem to have been amazingly skewed the last couple of years with the global developments related to ter- rorism, oil prices, etc. This brings me to the bad news. Only part of the Milford Bridge will be repaired this year. And to say I am unhappy, disappointed and rather miserable about the matter is somewhat of an understatement. I understand the decision made at Council tonight ( September 27%) though I didn't vote for it. The Commissioner of Public Continued on page 14 Letters to the editor are welcome. Thanks to the Fair Board for their dedication and hard work. Thanks to the volunteers who phched in to get the fair set up and cleaned up. Thanks to the many residents and businesses in South Marysburgh and beyond who contributed finan- cially and with prizes so any proceeds from the Fair can go back to our community. Thank you to all the talented performers who en- tertained us in the afternoon and evening. Thanks to all of you who attended the Fair, the dinner and the night show. Without you, all our work would have been for nothing. If you enjoyed the Fair, come and take an active role. We will be starting to plan for next year and we need people on the Board and to help in many areas. We have two more meetings this year - Tuesday, Octo- ber 12 and Tuesday, November 9 and then we start again in April. Ilook forward to seeing you at one of these meetings.
