Thurs. 4 I started to plough the sod back for Oats. Pa rolled the medow on the end of the flats. Fri. 5 We are needing rain very bad. I ploughed till noon then went to the flats and dragged the S. Peas and Wheat. Pa ploughed all day. May 6 We got a letter from Symantha Bullard stating that Aunt Susan Ackerman was dead died on Saturday 22th April. It was a great surprise to us all. I sowed 3 bushels of Oats in the swamp. Stirling was here and he dragged them in and rolled most of it. Pa finished ploughing the sod back.
