We make it too easy, and far too inexpensive to do these things, even if you agree with them or not. So is it the tourists who are the culprits, or is there amore subtle force at work? Could it be that there are some people living here in paradise who dispose of their Tim's cups, Coke cans and Blue Light bottles, not to men- tion the McDonalds and KFC packages, on our side roads? Being a trusting sort of person I cannot believe there are. HOWEVER, when it comes to finding tires, roofing tiles, broken glass, drywall etc. etc. piled at the side of the road I have to wonder at the tourist who loads up their vehicle with such trash and drives all the way from Toronto, or Peterborough, or Kingston, waiting until they have crossed the Murray Canal before dumping their load, and making a fast retreat homeward bound, back to the smoke. There must be something more sinister at work here. Perhaps, just perhaps we have some malad- justed County residents who take this disposal routine as a right, having paid their taxes to live here. I think it is time that we made our TRASH BASH a year round affair, with prizes for the cleanest roads and the stiffest of fines for anyone seen or found littering the hedgerows. That pick-up loaded with trash, that loiters at the side of the road, could Just be waiting for the opportunity to do the unthinkable. Come on folks... .this is downright anti-social behavior and if you are caught doing it then you should expect the stiff- est of penalties, which, when collected could be paid out to those who: BASH THE TRASH help KEEP THE COUNTY CLEAN. Simplistic, YES, but there again almost all good ideas began with a very simple thought.
