| South Bay U.C.W. The January Meeting of the ladies of South Bay United Church met at the hall on Wednesday, January th, at 1:30 p.m. resident Brenda Minaker opened with a poem "Wintertime Beauty". Purpose, theme hymn and the Lord's Prayer followed. Joyce Minaker's devotional was taken from Genesis 1 verses 1-8 and John 1 verses 1-5 which dealt with beginnings. Each beginning starts with an ending after which comes a new beginning. Secretary Marge Drury efficiently dispensed with the minutes of the December meeting, roll call and sick calls made. Treasurer Joyce Minaker brought us up to date on our financial status. Card secretary Donna Loney reported the cards she had sent and was apprised of any other people in the community who should be remembered. A very nice thank you note was received from Rev. Ed and Marilyn Schamerhom for the basket of fruit received from the church at Christmas. Social convener Maureen Rudd reported the annual meeting will be tentatively held on Sunday February 10th On Sunday January 20th, there will be a joint service of South Bay and Cherry Valley at South Bay Church at 10:00 a.m. There will be an appreciation for joint treasurer Carol Perrin at this time with a social time and light refreshments to be enjoyed after the service. Also at the same service, South Bay U.C.W. will present a cheque to the church in remembrance of any members who have passed away in the previous year. Baby sitters were assigned as following: January 13th - Maureen Rudd, January 20th - Donna Loney, January 27th - Sandra Emlaw, February 3rd Skip McCormack, February 10th - Brenda Minaker. Our program consisted of making up our schedule for year 2002. The following are tentative dates set for U.C.W. events for the year: Anniversary Supper - May 29th - Wednesday Yard Sale - May 18th - Saturday Strawberry Social - June 22nd - Saturday Fish Fry - Wednesday August 7th Kiwanis Supper - November ? Christmas Tea - Saturday December 7th. Alice Miller's contest about "Which Came First" had the ladies wracking their brains for the answers. After that the ladies needed to revive with refreshments served by Pat York and Maureen Rudd who were thanked on behalf of the group by Barb Baisillie. A heartfelt Thank You 'to The Mummers and all . our friends and neighbours who have shown us "County" fellowship. Your kindness through these times is so very appreciated.
