Even Better With Age! Don and Shirley Jamieson with restored tractors It all started, as these things sometimes do, with one person, Rob a young family man and a member of my Mt. Zion church congregation. Rob is the handiest guy around farm equipment you could ever meet. Now I am not just talking fixing up the odd lawn tractor or snow blower, round baler or the likes. No, this man Rob was trained by the best to fix the best....the sophisticated stuff with GPS on board (Global Positioning by Satellite); the kind of equipment which needs a farmer with a very LARGE cheque book and the acreage to Justify it. (Might there be a few of these around the County if we looked hard enough?) Anyway Rob had this dream. You see it was not the expensive equipment he was working on which really motivated him. It was the vintage farm equipment on which he loved to tinker whilst giving his 6 year old son Thomas lessons on the finer points of maintenance. As luck would have it, one day Rob "ran into" an old '57 Model 20 Cockshutt which had been consigned to the scrap heap. He looked at it, had a serious chat with his wife Lisa, for it was her car which was going to be ousted from the family garage, and brought it home. I was one of the first to see its rusted wheels and rotting tires, and to be honest I doubted that it could ever be anything better than it was on that day....
