Gallery One- Twenty-One features Milford's Molly McClung { Milford sculptor Molly McClung will be the featured artist in Gallery One-Twenty-One's final show for the summer of 2001. The show will be on view from Tuesday July 31st until Saturday Sept. 8th. Molly McClung calls her new work "Creations" and explains that the theme of the work began in musing on first principles as handed down from earliest civilizations: Chinese, Egyptian, Greek and Judaeo-Christian. " The Greeks are particularly well represented, sometimes by name" she continues. " There are images of Earth, Air, Fire and Water, all suggested as core elements. For one philosopher, change was the basis of life; for another, the atom. Pieces of soapstone and alabaster have been carefully chosen for colour, texture and dimensions to suggest these first principles". Finding three dimensional images that would capture the essence of these various accounts of creation presented tremendous challenges to McClung. "What can represent 'and the earth was without form and void" ? Or * I do not know what it 1s.... I call it Tao and name it as supreme'? You will just have to come and see..." she suggests. Molly McClung has been working in soapstone since 1974; in 1994 she also began working in alabaster. She has shown her art in Kingston, Toronto, Belleville, Picton and Bloomfield. Her work is in collections in Canada, the Country Shears Fanity Hairstyling 2058 COUNTY ROAD 17 1/2 KM, FROM MILFORD By aphoint Dy appointment only. Call nda at 476-2170 . Tabor. It certainly was enlightening, encouraging, and entertaining, with fine and enjoyable music and song choices. Your "sit-down" stand-up comedy was as funny and plucky, yet earnest and honest, as the best of them. Wishing you and Standing Ovation great success and happiness.
