I could see that our so called perpetual vacation was beginning to look a little like work and I knew we had to take another holiday. This one had to be adventurous and show some imagination, be more challenging and hopefully more restful while still being exciting. It was, we went to Kingston for three days. Don't laugh, Kingston is one of the most beautiful cities in Canada as it nestles along the waterfront with its lovely stone buildings. Indeed it was at one time visualized as the capital of Canada if it hadn't been so subject to attack by our then relatively unfriendly neighbours to the south. Becoming our nation's capital would I think have ruined Kingston as it would have sprawled across the countryside and become inhabited by largely grey civil servants. Better to ruin Ottawa!!! In any events we had a great time. Stayed at the Holiday Inn Downtown and behaved like tourists. Ate at our favourite restaurants, tried some new ones and even found a Japanese restaurant and had our Sushi fix. I guess when you think about it work, vacation or holiday are merely words that we ourselves define by our attitude, and to paraphrase ' resolve to be content in whatever situation we find ourselves'. Perhaps you can be as fortunate as us and consider your daily existence as being on vacation. - John A.
