TABOR SAVED! At the July 24th Council meeting, Boug Parker and Pat Larkin presented the results of the petition signed by 2600 concerned citizens from all wards in the County and from as far away as Australia. Previous to the council meeting, members of the Steering Committee and user groups met with the Mayor and selected members of council and as a result the following recommendations were made:- 1. That the present Mount Tabor complex remain intact and remain in the ownership of the Municipal Corporation. 2. That one person be responsible for the bookings/ scheduling and that person be Joel Walker, Chairman of the South Marysburgh Recreation Committee 3. That a regular updated calendar of uses at Mount Tabor be provided to the Community Services Department. 4. That a capital reserve fund be established for the Mount Tabor complex. 5. That the Commissioner of Community Services meet with the South Marysburgh Recreation Comunittee and Mount Tabor user groups to prepare an 'Operational Report' to include fees, maintenance and a reporting structure for recommendation to a future Community Services Committee meeting. The unanimous approval of these recommendations at the council meeting resulted in prolonged applause from the many citizens in attendance. We owe special thanks to the Steering Committee and others who worked so hard on our behalf to bring about this happy conclusion. Grain Project to Help Fight World Hunger In just a few days time, a twelve acre field of fall wheat will be harvested in Athol Township. After the combine has completed its work the crop will be trucked to Anderson's Farms. Through the Canadian Wheat Board this Prince Edward County wheat will be sold. What makes this particular field of grain different from many others about to be harvested is the final destination of the profit from this crop.
