It seemsthat somebody from our Friends told the other Friends that when it comes to signing up for Friends of the Library, the South will beat the North every time. Ameliasburgh has responded to the challenge and is mounting an impressive membership drive. Our time is running out. It only costs $2 to join the Friends of the Ann Farwell Library, a small price to pay for the distinction of being the best supported library in the County. Remember that joining the library itself is free to every citizen of the County of Prince Edward and that vou are under no obligation to join a Friends group. an Did you know that there are all kinds of new magazines arriving at the library daily? First of all, there are new subscriptions to magazines like Country Woman, Jump, Outdoor Canada, Spin, Good Times for Seniors, and Shape. We also have many of your old favourites, including the in through donations. You can borrow craft and holiday issues, a variety of news magazines, computer magazines, as well as different titles on health, sports, nature, lifestyles, and house and home. If you can't find what you are looking for, be sure to ask staff for assistance. Remember, all magazines, whether current or back issues, can circulate for one week. There is a drop box if you need to return material when the library is not open. td pid you know that you could set up a personal e-mail account at the library? There are many free web-based e-mail sites available for your use, which means that once you register an account, you can check your mail or send e-mail from anywhere you have access to the internet. Interest in the internet is growing, so if you want to explore the wonders of cyberspace or have your own email account, you will need to book time on the computer. Staff aren't always available to help you use the equipment, so if you are new to the digital life, perhaps you could plan to bring a friend to show you the ropes. The library 1s always looking for volunteers who would be willing to share their internet experience with new users. Remember, computer appointments are an hour or a half hour depending on demand and it is abways wise to book ahead. There is no charge to use the computer, but we have to charge 10 cents a sheet for printing anything over 3 pages in order fo cover costs. Ld Did you know that the Recreation Committee has taken over responsibility for the photocopier, which is now available for use at the library? Photocopying costs 10 cents a page, and proceeds will be used to maintain the photocopier and provide supplies. Did you know that the library's own Lori Farrington has found the last full time job left in Prince Edward County? Lori will be contributing her unique talents to the work of the Prince Edward Learning Centre and by all reports, will do so in exchange for actual money. Even Lori herself -- National Geographic, Consumer Report, Canadian Workshop and Taste of Home.
